Ice Castles

 One of the most unique and amazing facts about these Ice Castles is that they are literally built by hand. The builders of these ice castles grow more than 5,000 icicles each day that they then harvest and sculpt together.

45th Annual Minnesota Sportsmen’s Boat, Camping & Vacation Show

 The 45th Annual Minnesota Sportsmen’s Boat, Camping & Vacation show will be held this Thursday the 8th through Sunday the 11th. It’s a boat show, camping show, outdoor equipment show, travel show, and family fun show all rolled into one! There will be dozens of speakers, vendors, and workshops.

 Just because it’s winter and you live in Minnesota, doesn’t mean you can’t stop to smell the flowers every now and then. You simply have to plan a trip to do it! The Como Park Zoo & Conservatory’s Winter Flower Show will have a mix of purple, red and pink flowers to enjoy.

Lake Harriet Winter Kite Festival

The Lake Harriet Winter Kite Festival features kite flying as well as ice fishing! The 2015 Kite festival will be the 13th annual festival and will include kites of all shapes, sizes, colors and themes. Experts will be on hand to demonstrate kite maneuvering skills and be available to offer their expertise to all kite flying enthusiasts. If you don’t have your own kite you can buy an inexpensive one at the festival.

Admission is  FREE.

Tips Outdoors will teach kids ice fishing skills and safety tips. Equipment and permits for children will be provided.
