History of Vadnais Heights
Established in the 1840s by four Canadian families whose names are Morrisette, Bibeau, Garceau and Vadnais, the families settled in an area of what is now known as Vadnais Lake. In 1858 when Minnesota State was established, the small settlement became a part of White Bear Township. Almost a hundred years later, the small area of the township increased to 2 thousand residents. These residents voted to incorporate the village into the Village of Vadnais Heights. With approval from the state legislature, the small village became a city in 1974.
