Things are getting back to normal! Now that the mask mandate has been lifted statewide it’s time for events in the Twin Cities to start making a comeback. Good news is the Minnesota State Fair is on for 2021, sadly other events like Grand Old Day remain canceled for this year. Still, there are plenty of things to do this month in the Twin Cities and surrounding suburbs. If you’re not headed up north or to the lake, check out the list of events taking place this June.

Rhubarb Festival

BIZ-ingo at the Fair

After a full year of digital fun, the BIZ-ingo crew is thrilled to announce its first hosted event! Gather your markers, daubers, and lucky charms because it is time to finally meet your BIZ-ingo BFFs out in the wild! Game rounds begin at 7:30pm and will also be broadcast on Facebook LIVE for those unable to attend in-person. Locations will have cards available for pick-up Wednesday 6/2 through game time on Saturday 6/5. Cards will also be available to event attendees. The more free cards collected, the more ways to win. Local pick up locations and map will be shared in the coming weeks. Local food & drink will be available, grand prizes, other in-person fun, and more information will be announced soon!

Train Days

Train Days will include train equipment tours, a vendor marketplace, showcase of the 2020 Virtual Train Days mini-series, model trains, concessions, train photography exhibit, family-friendly activities and more!

Lowertown Sounds

Lowertown Sounds, presented by Hiway Credit Union, brings the community together in Saint Paul’s Mears Park for a Thursday night summertime concert series featuring live, local and original music, plus food trucks, Minnesota-made beer, cider and wine — benefiting the St. Paul Yellow Ribbon Network. Guests are invited to bring blankets and chairs to enjoy the show.

Deutsche Tage (German Days)
When: June 12, 2021
Where: GAI Haus and Grounds

With authentic German beers (five kinds of Paulaner to choose from) and food from local vendors, there will be no shortage of opportunities for toasts and Prosts. A variety of live musicians including the Bavarian Musikmeisters and Alpensterne, GAI favorite Ron Machel and master concertinist Josh Eidsor will perform on our outdoor stage. Makam Baklava Turkish music ensemble will entertain us, as will Rivers Ballet. And don’t miss a special appearance by MN Opera soprano Karin Wolverton. As in past years, our local vendors will have German goods for sale.

Selby Fest

Selby at Snelling is kicking off the summer season with Selby Fest 2021, a family-friendly neighborhood event to celebrate Summer!

Join us on Saturday, June 12 from 1pm-5pm for a day full of delicious food, shopping, giveaways, and promotions.

1:30-2:30pm  A special performance from Country-Western songman Trevor McSpadden at the Snelling-Selby corner
1:30-4pm       Live music from Frederick the First  at Cahoots Coffee patio
2–3:30pm      Kids will love Silly Miss Tilly performing with her animal balloons.
2–3:30pm      Banjo & guitar from Twin Town Strings at Wheeler & Selby 2–3:30

WaterFest
When: June 19, 2021
Where: Lake Phalen Regional Park

WaterFest will take place at Lake Phalen Park in St. Paul over 9 days from June 19 – 27, 2021.

Due to COVID safety measures, the event will showcase numerous self-directed learning opportunities and activities throughout the week. In addition, this WaterFest webpage will feature virtual activities shared by our exhibitors. Our volunteers will be assisting with the self-directed exhibits.

Even though WaterFest will look much different than previous years, the goal remains to continue educating all people on the importance of water management, wildlife habitat, and the unique ecological features of our region’s watershed.

Grillfest

Tickets to GrillFest include samples of food and beverage from all of our great vendors. A GrillFest ticket covers food, wine, and beer samplings at many of the booths and feature areas. GrillFest occurs rain or shine.
